Social Work

Social work is one of the trademarks of our ministry. Therefore, it’s our goal to help maintain these types of entities that render community service. Currently, Victory in Christ Ministry helps support two institutions:

S8 Community

Led by Pastor Jeremias de Matos Fontes is a Christian organization, located in Rio de Janeiro, which has two main purposes: to rehabilitate drug addicts and educate children.

For the past 38 years S8 Community has maintained a clinic that supports the rehabilitation of drug users and addicts. One of the main tools used in delivering the addicts is teaching about God´s love and about the power of His Blood which has the ability to completely transform anyone. S8 also offers professional training for the addicts which helps them to be able to reenter into society productively.

Besides the anti-drug project, the institution also houses a school with 360 students. The school offers courses in chess, ballet, and judo for the needy children of this area. These classes are important to help develop and strengthen the children both physically and mentally. The school also teaches the children learn discipline through their programs. Parallel to their work with the children, S8 Community also gives lectures to parents on parenting, personal issues, and better family relationships. This guidance is a key factor in providing a loving and respectful environment for little ones.

House of Mary and Martha

Is a daycare and after-school program that was established in 1990 by two women, Helena Souza and Edméia Willians. In the beginning, the work was all done from a shack, which has since collapsed because of its fragile infrastructure. It was only then and after much hard work, that they were finally able to build a large new structure that provided more security for the children. This new building is a great blessing to the lives of the children. It physically, materially and spiritually meets the needs of the community. After all, the objective of this project is to plant the seed of Jesus’ love in the hearts of everyone. This Christian entity works with children up to 14 years of age, and is located at Dona Marta Community, in Rio de Janeiro. It’s open from Monday through Friday, and they offer three daily meals for the children and also help out with tutoring. “The children are now able to learn more about the Gospel, so that they may prosper and mature.” says one of the institutes founders.
